Biote

Our Take

4.5 Rating

The Bottom Line: Biote Medical is by some considered the “original” BHRT company. Biote is the largest and most experienced company having completed over 2.5 million pellet insertions with over 4,700 providers nationwide whereas the closest competition has a fraction at less than 500 providers.  The biggest difference with Biote, however, is their intense focus on provider training in their specific “Biote Method” of therapy and their product quality control which leads to very high numbers of positive patient outcomes and keeps patients coming back.

Pros:

  • Highly rated by patients with over 2.5 million insertions
  • Largest BHRT company with over 4,700 providers
  • Most reputable among providers due to rigorous training and ongoing support
  • Extensive nutraceutical line to complement their therapy

Cons:

  • You may have to wait a while to get an appointment due to the demand of their therapy

About Biote

If you’re looking to optimize your hormones, you’ll want to consider Biote as a BHRT option. Biote’s goal is to help balance hormones through BHRT using pellets. They believe hormone balance is critical to help people live healthier lives. As such, Biote seeks to help people live better, longer and to change healthcare for the better. They don’t believe in anti-aging. Instead, Biote believes in healthy aging, knowing that this process is different for everyone. Biote continues to develop educational programs and patient management options to help providers fight early indicators of aging with a customized approach.

BHRT with Biote

Biote uses pellet therapy to help balance hormones. To have BHRT at Biote, first, find a local Biote Certified Provider. Next, you will have an in-office appointment and lab work. Finally, if the provider feels that you’re a candidate for BHRT using pellet therapy, you’re ready for a pellet insertion.

At your appointment, the insertion site—usually around the upper buttocks—is numbed. Secondly, the provider makes a small incision and inserts the hormone pellet, which is about the size of a grain of rice. After that, the provider covers the insertion site with a small bandage. The body absorbs the contents and begins to utilize the bioidentical hormones. In fact, some patients report seeing improvement in as little as four weeks.

BHRT Treatment Options at Biote

Biote offers several treatment options, as listed below.

  • Testosterone Pellet Therapy
    • Symptoms of low testosterone include fatigue, muscle weakness, reduced sex drive, night sweats, and weight gain. Biote’s uses BHRT with pellets to deliver testosterone and help relieve symptoms of low testosterone.
  • Estrogen Pellet Therapy
    • When women experience symptoms like mood swings, hot flashes, or irregular or absent periods, this may indicate a drop in estrogen levels. Biote Certified Providers offer BHRT using pellets that may relieve these symptoms. Many patients report that the Biote Method of estrogen pellet therapy has helped treat menopausal symptoms.
  • Clinical-Grade Nutraceuticals
    • Biote Nutraceuticals feature high-quality supplements that help maintain normal hormone balance. Each Biote supplement contains well-researched ingredients that help support health, wellness, and overall wellbeing. Furthermore, many of these work hand-in-hand with BHRT pellet therapy. For example, vitamins like D and K, and minerals like iodine complement hormone therapies.

What Makes BHRT at Biote Different

There are quite a few things that stand out about BHRT with Biote.

Their training process

First of all, Biote’s training process for Biote Certified Providers is extensive. The Biote Method training facility is state-of-the-art. It provides both on-site and virtual educational programs, seminars, training, and refresher courses in hormone optimization, synergistic vitamin and nutraceutical guidance, and other topics.

Over 4,700 providers in more than 2,800 clinics nationwide have successfully completed Biote’s rigorous curriculum and clinical training program. In addition, once a provider completes their training, they are teamed up with a Biote Mentor. These Mentors provide continuing support and guidance, including regulatory compliance, education, and new research updates.

Their Diagnostic Platform

Secondly, Biote has a proprietary Diagnostic Platform. This platform uses analytical tools to help ensure that each patient’s concerns, symptoms, etc. are recorded alongside lab results and other diagnostic tools. Biote, in turn, can optimize each person’s health outcomes by delivering an accurate diagnosis, treatment, dosage, and delivery method.

Nutraceuticals

Thirdly, Biote supports their pellet therapies with clinical-grade nutraceutical formulations. According to their website, Biote’s “line of essential nutraceuticals provides important nutritional support for vitamin and mineral deficiencies that may have created health deficits that may have been accumulating for years.” Biote’s nutraceuticals support hormone and thyroid optimization and deliver improved, personalized outcomes.

Prescription Peptide Therapeutics

Fourth, through detailed research, Biote identified patient-specific peptides that further support healthy aging. Peptides not only help hormone optimization but also help improve symptoms of imbalanced hormones.

FDA-Registered Outsourcing Facilities

And finally, bioidentical pellets from Biote-approved outsourcing facilities must be compounded in accordance with specific manufacturing processes that adhere to stringent quality control standards. As a matter of fact, Biote requires that their pellets be manufactured to potency standards stricter than the industry standards of +/- 10%. In addition, Biote only works with FDA-registered 503B Human Drug Compounding Outsourcing Facilities. These measures and more help ensure that Biote providers have the highest-quality compounded hormones available.
